About Me and Coaching
In 2010, I graduated from Millersville University with a degree in Elementary Education. That fall, I started my teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher. Three years later, I moved to a new school district and began teaching 5th grade. After four years, I had the unique opportunity to loop up with a cohort of students and teach 6th grade.
As a teacher, my desire was to see my students succeed in life. I was energized when I had the opportunity to help them learn life lessons that could be carried into their future. I desired to have a positive impact on their lives.
The longer I taught, the more I realized that my desire to make an impact, how I am wired, and my giftings and abilities were less and less utilized in this field. In fact, I felt like I spent more time worrying about how my lesson plans were supposed to be organized or collecting data than truly helping my students live fulfilling lives. I knew I wanted to move out of education but didn't know what was next. Whenever I would explore new options, the doors never seemed to open or feel just right.
A door opened in 2019, and I was able to resign from teaching to pursue a Master's of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling through Liberty University. My wife and I knew this was the next step.
I remember being asked, "So what do you plan to do once you graduate? Do you want to be a lead pastor?" But I had no idea what the next step was going to be. During my time in seminary, I began to realize more and more that I had a passion for walking with people as they journeyed through life. Towards the end of seminary, I had the opportunity to start working for a local non-profit that focuses on alleviating poverty. I became an Advocate and worked with people on goal setting and future planning.
This brings me to now. Last year, a close friend challenged me to do something that I had been talking about for some time: start a Coaching Business. So here we are!
I love being able to walk alongside others as they figure out their journey, gain focus, overcome obstacles, achieve goals, and live out their purpose. My hope as a coach is to help each person live their life with intentionality and purpose. I do this by helping individuals in a variety of ways, including:
-
Setting goals
-
Adapting and maximizing their unique wiring
-
Developing tools and strategies
-
Identifying pressure points
-
Overcoming obstacles
-
Gaining a clear focus
-
Spiritual formation
If any of these areas stand out to you, I would love to meet with you as you figure out your next step.
